Because many buildings were destroyed or damaged during the 2010 earthquake and subsequent tropical storms, there is an urgent need for educational facilities, safe housing, and opportunities for economic development in Haiti.

Our concept diagram is a visual idea of how all these elements could work together to create a community design that integrates with the cultural aspects of many Haitians living outside larger cities such as Port-au-Prince. The school as a single element has great benefit, but connected to a community with housing, areas for work, shops, and retail makes the school an integral part of a larger economic and cultural system.
